Zombie Mansion is one of the first first-person shooter games for the iPhone. Like I expected, the stupid controls totally spoil the gameplay, and turn it into one stupid piece of crap.

The game starts off in any one of the numerous areas of the mansion., like the dungeon or the ground floor. And you don’t even know why you are there in the first place – no storyline. Your only weapon is your magic stick, with which you shoot bluish blasts of energy, shooting down the z1zombies. The game has a small gaming pad in itself, as you can see from the screenshot. Turning around isn’t so very convenient with the choppy controls, and a zombie might be kicking your back and you can’t even turn around to take it down. I would have preferred you could turn around by swiping across the screen, which would have been so much better.

The graphics are good, and seems to be the only good thing about the game, though its not perfect.  The lighting effects are good, and the light really seems to emanate from the lamps, and is quite realistic. But the zombies look like they are made of loose clay. You would have expected them to fall down the moment you saw them, but they rush at you at amazing speed.

The sound seems to be good at first. But then you realize that it goes repeating the same 45-second sound track over and over again. If you play this game for too long (out of some miracle, considering its bad controls), the sound will torture you in your dreams!

This game is a good attempt to establish itself  as a first-person shooter for the iPhone. You could expect a good first-person shooter in the near future. If it wasn’t for the controls, I would have bought this game. Just stay away from this game at all costs, and don’t let it appeal to you as it is a first-person shooter.

Controls: 3/10
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 3/10
Gameplay: 5/10

Overall: 4.5/10
