ngmoco is really ruling the app store with its great games. With Dr.Awesome, ngmoco has really proved itself to be a great arcade game-maker for the iPhone.

A disease is spreading across the land, and you, Dr.Awesome, have the responsibility to eradicate all these diseases. The controls are simple. You control a small Dr. Awesomewhitish thing (should be a device) using your accelorometer to navigate around a rectangular cell. When you move from one end of the cell to another end, you cut the cell along a whitish line and cut off a piece of the cell. The cell is full of deadly viruses and bacteria, and some of the bigger ones shoot things everywhere. Once you cut off most of the cell, and when the cell becomes too small, the viruses die and you finish the level.

The game frequently adds patients to the patient list. Sometimes it tskes names from you own address book!, to personalize the game experience.

The game has attractive visuals, showcasing colurful (but deadly) viruses and a mass of liquid around the cell, showcasing RBCs and other cells (Horrifying! This reminds me of Biology!). The game has attractive cut-scenes featuring 2D characters, who criticize you, encourage you and praise you.

The only drawback about the game is that it gets too repetitive. By the time you reach Level 4, you are simply tired of saving of saving grandpa multiple times. Also, the cut-scenes’ dialogues repeat again and again by the time you have played for  30 minutes. But this is quite a good buy for $1.99. Oh! and did I mention it was on sale. Get it now for $0.99.

Controls: 7/10
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 7/10
Gameplay: 6/10

Overall: 6.8/10
